The song was originally supposed to be titled Lord, but the record company was nervous that the success of the song could be hindered if it was made religious. If you can hear in the lyrics, he’s talking about the Lord “So many people use your name in vain, LORDDDDD, those who have faith in you sometimes turn astray.” this is an amazing song! It is definitely a classic.
