Have you ever been fishing before? As recreation, there are some ponds and lakes where you must ‘catch and release’. This means if you catch a fish you must release it.
Let’s apply this same analogy to life. In order to truly catch something new you must be able to release some things. Many of us are holding onto past things, people and situations when God is really calling us to release these things so He can bless us with new.
Phil 3:13-14, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
This scripture talks about forgetting all those things that are behind us so we can press forward to the “new” things God has in store for us. If you’re mission is to truly walk out what God has for you. You must first be willing to release.
This week’s word: Release
This week’s activity: Write down the things that you need to let go of. Pray over your list by giving these areas of your life to God completely. Put forth a plan to steer free from ever picking up them up again. Release and leave at His feet.
Be Blessed.
