God speaks to us in so many ways. How have you heard from God recently? For me, there have been many divine conversations and connections. People have called at the perfect time or have known private things about me only God could have shared. I have definitely heard God speak to me through people most recently and its such a blessing to know He cares that much.
Another way God will speak to you is through His written word. His word is alive. It lives on through us. How many times have you opened the Bible to a random place and the scripture is exactly what you need? His word is overly sufficient for anything you may be going through.
Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
God will also speak to you through the Holy Spirit in the form of a prompting and/or feeling. Maybe it’s a conviction or a “download” of an idea. I love that Jesus sent us a helper who stays with us and resides in us, always. The Holy Spirit is will guide us, therefore listen and follow the prompting.
John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
With all these beautiful ways God speaks to us, there are a couple things we need to keep in mind, first you must be in position to hear Him. Secondly, you must be ready to “do” what God is saying. It doesn’t help that God keeps sending people into your life to speak and/or pray with you but you never answer the phone or return their text. It also doesn’t help to receive a word from God and do nothing about it. God is forever moving and speaking in our lives. Let’s get in position and be ready to move.
James 1:22, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
This week’s word: Listen
This week’s activity: Answer these questions: How has God been speaking to you recently? Write down all the ways you can think of. What are some things you can do differently to be in better position to receive God?
Be Blessed.
