Faith

Hebrews 11:1 says Faith is the substance of all things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  This means faith is something we believe in whether we see it or not. It can get hard at times to believe in something that’s not present, but honestly, we do it all the time.

Do you always meet and speak with the pilot before your flight takes off?  We believe the pilot is in their seat ready for take-off.  We believe they’re certified and passed all required tests.  We believe the pilot has had enough rest and is adequate to fly.  We believe even though we haven’t actually seen.

When you order food from a restaurant or a drive-thru window do you go in the back and speak to the cook?  Do you check out the kitchen to make sure it meets all requirements? We believe these requirements have already been met. We believe the cook will take good care of us, all the time. We believe even though we haven’t really seen it ourself.

When you sit back and really think about it, you do have strong faith. What makes these other circumstances easier to trust is due to the repetitive nature of your experiences. If you fly often, it’s easy for you to believe you will get to your destination safely.  If you eat out a few times a week it’s easy for you to trust your food will be great.

Have this same repetitive system with God. Trust Him time and time again.  He will not fail you nor forsake you.  We have to believe He’s in it, even if we don’t see it.  We have to believe it will be good even though we are unable to verify with our own two eyes. This is FAITH and guess what? You have STRONG FAITH!

This week’s activity: Challenge yourself this week to believe even if you don’t see. What areas in your life are you hoping for change? Believe that it’s coming, even though you don’t see it.  Make a list of the things in your life that have been challenging to walk in faith. Ask God to give you strength in these areas and give it to Him.  This week let’s strengthen our faith walk.
