Pornhub Is Removing Millions Of Sex Videos On The Adult Website
If you visit the world’s largest sex site Pornhub, get ready to see fewer sex videos on its site. Pornhub has started removing millions of videos that are NOT verified. It says videos that are NOT uploaded by Pornhub’s official content partners or members of its model program, those videos will disappear.
Pornhub decided to tighten up its policies to ensure it does not condone child sex abuse. Well, PornHub had some help in making that decision more quickly. A watchdog group, Internet Watch Foundation, actually found 118 instances of child sexual abuse material on Pornhub in the last three years. And that’s not all that prompted PornHub’s sudden ‘policy change.’
An article published in the New York Times featured the lives of child sex abuse victims who had videos uploaded on Pornhub. Shortly after that article was released, Mastercard and Visa started their own investigation into unlawful material on Pornhub. As a result, Mastercard and Visa decided to stop processing payment with the site.
Not everyone is happy about the change though. Those who uploaded videos and racked up millions of views say they depend on that money to make a living. Pornhub did host around 13.5 million videos with many of those from unverified accounts. By Monday (December 14), that number had dropped drastically to 4.7 million. That number may continue to fluctuate as Pornhub continues to review and clear out any unverified videos.
Pornhub says verified users are those who have submitted a selfie of themselves holding a piece of paper with their username and pornhub.com written on it. Pornhub says they will have a more thorough process in the new year. Do you think?
