KFC Is Testing A New Chicken Sandwich To Compete With Popeye’s
BRISTOL, ENGLAND - FEBRUARY 20: In this photo illustration, fast food from a branch of KFC is pictured on February 20, 2018 in Bristol, England. The number of takeaway restaurants has increased significantly in the last few years and this has raised concerns that this can lead to over-consumption in cheap, unhealthy high-fat nutrient-poor food and drink leading to higher body weight and greater risk of obesity. It’s the war of chicken sandwiches these days. Move over Popeye’s and Chick-fi-la, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is joining you!
KFC is testing out a new premium chicken sandwich in Orlando, Fl. But, the marketing team at KFC says it won’t be just any ‘ol chicken’ sandwich. This one is an extra crispy chicken filet on a buttered brioche bun and topped with pickles and spicy or classic mayonnaise. (Ummm, sounds familiar to me)
It’ll cost you about $3.99 or as a combo about $6.99. KFC says it’s new KFC Chicken Sandwich has a bigger filet, more pickles and better bun than its previous version. Think of it as more of an upgrade.
Right now, it’s being sold in about 15 locations in Florida through June 21. If it tests well, look for it to hit a market near you.
