Eat Black Charlotte Food Festival returns to the Queen City. If you're into experiencing some of the city's best Black-owned restaurants and culture than this is the event for you.
You may be familiar with the name 'Eat Black Charlotte'. In the past, it was known as an entire week of indulging in food created by Black-owned eateries. It is coming back again this year with a new look and new name: Bites on Seventh. According to its website, Bites on Seventh is a family-friendly event that will feature over a dozen new and longtime local Black-owned restaurants and food trucks. The new format is a bit more robust and exciting. It will be a block party with curated foods and drinks.
The co-founder of Eat Black Charlotte, Erique Berry tells the Charlotte Observer it's been cool to see what started as a hashtag in 2020 transformed into an actual festival. Outside of the food, there will be activities, educational programs, and even live performances. Organizers say they've been intentional in setting a vibe.
The goal, they say, is to experience good food and celebrate the best Black-owned restaurants in the city. Bites on Seventh is June 1 from 2 pm to 7 pm in the First Ward area near Victoria Yards. The festival is free to attend, however, guests will be required to buy a $10 wristband that is linked to a credit or debit card to purchase food and drinks during the event. VIP tickets and a swag bag will also be available for $40.
