I looked up the word succulent and it means “tender, juicy and tasty”. Personally I need plumpness in my chicken wings, I don’t like gnawing on the bone for a while. The website Lovefood broke down where you can find the most succulent chicken wings in each state. We mainly concern ourselves here with the food choices in North Carolina and South Carolina.
In North Carolina, the website has searched far and wide to find the perfect wing full of succulence. They recommend we try the smoked midwood wings at Midwood Smokehouse in Charlotte. This North Carolina Restaurant Has The South's Best Fried Chicken
Hold up this is a huge statement but it is true. This North Carolina restaurant has the south’s best chicken. We are not just talking about the best in the state but for the whole south. As a southern girl born and bred, these are sacred words. This is according to an article by the folks at Southern Living Magazine.
I probably have fried chicken in my DNA, my mother made it at least three times a week and of course after church on Sunday. Her style of chicken is referred to as down-home classic fried chicken. It is the one dish I had the patience to learn. So now I make it for my family. It is a southern staple. I make mine by cutting up a whole chicken, soaking the pieces in buttermilk, and rolling in flour. Then I salt and pepper each piece and fry it up in a deep frying pan. My mom taught me to listen for a certain “sound” before I turn the chicken. It comes out delicious and golden brown every time. Oh, by the way, I use peanut oil! My mom did not do that. But I like it this way.
What if you don’t have all that time? Lucky for us there are some restaurants that make chicken just the way your Mom did or maybe someone else’s mom. The North Carolina spot named to this list is just a few hours away in Raleigh. Find out which North Carolina restaurant has the best-fried chicken it is below as well as see some of the other top fried chicken spots in the country. Get details from Southern Living.
