New Charlotte Soul Food Restaurant To Open In University Area
Charlotte foodies get ready for a new soul food restaurant that promises to set itself apart from the traditional soul food spots. The owners of Sol’ Delish say they will put “love in their food.”
Latrell Brice is co-owner of Sol’Delish. He recently hosted a tasting event at the restaurant. Guest chowed down on ‘soulful’ menu items including salmon and grits, a collard green dip, and of course chicken and waffles. Brice says their signature dish will be lump crab cakes.
And that’s not the only treat customers will enjoy. Sol’ Delish will also serve classic cocktails and mimosas and of course, you’ll be able to delight in their signature drink. The“Sol’ Punch” features various liquors mixed with champagne.
Brice co-owns the restaurant with his wife, Marilyn, and a friend, Mac Stephenson. Brice is no stranger to the kitchen. He says he started working in the kitchen at age 14. And he has worked in a number of restaurants, serving in various roles from prepping to cooking.
“I’ve worked in a lot of restaurants, prepping, cooking [and] bussing tables,” Latell Brice said. Brice told QCityMetro he’s worked in the restaurant field from 14 years old and has always had a passion for cooking.
Brice said they plan to open a second location in Charlotte and hope to expand into other states beginning with Atlanta.
Sol’Delish is set to officially open July 25th. It is located at 9211 N. Tryon St., Suite #1, Charlotte, NC.
