Hawthorne’s NY Pizza New Location Opening In Charlotte And Here’s What It Replaces
Did someone say pizza? Charlotte’s culinary scene constantly changes. And, if you don’t pay attention you could miss something. But, this one caught my attention immediately. So, Hawthorne’s NY Pizza new location, their 11th, is opening in Charlotte. And, with the addition of Hawthorne’s NY Pizza comes the subtraction of another eatery that seemingly barely got off the ground.
What Hawthorne’s NY Pizza New Location Replaces
So, the route we drive to our South End office each day takes us down Tryon Street with a turn at Park Ave. And, right there on the corner for several years now has been Early Girl Eatery. I always comment that we should try it out some time. However, looks like that won’t be happening. Yep, Hawthorne’s NY Pizza new location will be taking over the spot where Early Girl Eatery sits, according to an Instagram post from @JasonThomasclt, a Charlotte food and beverage blogger.
About Hawthorne’s NY Pizza History
And, as New York natives, the Hawthorne’s NY Pizza owners take pride in delivering a quality, authentic product to the Queen City. But, it’s about more than the food. Their motto upfront on their website points to ‘family owned, family first.’ And, they take a hands on approach to running a business. So, on any given visit you might see them bussing tables and answering phones right alongside the staff.
The family brought Hawthorne’s NY Pizza to North Carolina in 2004. And, they have locations in Mint Hill, Huntersville, Harrisburg, Mooresville, Concord and Charlotte. The location I remember visiting was the one on Rea Road near Stonecrest.
Years ago, we met friends with all our kids for a gathering. And, I devoured some of the most drool-worthy Penne Ala Vodka I ever had. So, Hawthorne’s NY Pizza new location within walking distance to my office might be dangerous.
However, at this time we aren’t certain when the Hawthorne’s NY Pizza new location plans to open. But, I had to put it on my radar. And, we’ll keep a close eye on any new developments! Although, a popular Asheville pizza spot just recently opened in the South End area. So, the pizza wars are afoot!
Locals Say This Is The Best Pizza In Charlotte North Carolina
There is NEVER a bad time for pizza. At least if we are talking great pizza. And that we are. But with tomorrow February 9th being National Pizza Day, and that huge football game coming up this weekend it is the perfect time to talk pizza. That “big game” is responsible for the largest volume of pizza delivery in a year. So you may want to see if you can preorder if that’s your plan! You probably have a favorite pizza spot. But what do the true locals say is the best pizza in Charlotte? Glad you asked.
This is so subjective because there are so many different styles of pizza from NY to thin crust, Neopolitan, deep dish, the list goes on and one. And everyone has their favorite. I have my favorite pizza in each category. And the type of pizza I’m craving can vary often. (After writing this I just want any pizza). Our friends at Nextdoor shared some research with us though on what locals say is the best pizza in Charlotte.
This list of eight different restaurants across the area is made up of local pizza places that have earned the Nextdoor Neighborhood Fave badge for seven consecutive years. So it wasn’t a fluke, these places are consistently excellent. This award is for local businesses that are voted on by neighbors who actually live in the communities.
I will say the list is heavy on New York Pizza- not a bad thing at all. In fact, I needed some new recommendations. It also includes a couple of places I love but tend to visit for dishes other than pizza! So if you’re looking for some delicious pizza (or other Italian specialties) try one of these spots. Thanks to our friends at Nextdoor for sharing this with us.
