Trump Asks If NASCAR Driver Bubba Wallace Will Apologize
NASCAR fans probably thought that the entire Bubba Wallace story, involving a noose hung in his garage at the Talladega Speedway, was over.
For some reason, President Donald J. Trump decided to bring it up again, by tweeting about it today.
Trump asked, “Has @BubbaWallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX?”
He continued, “That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!” By “flag decision,” he is referencing NASCAR’s decision to ban the confederate flag from NASCAR races and events.

To recap, a member of Wallace’s team found a rope tied into a noose in Wallace’s garage at the Talladega Speedway on June 21 and alerted his crew to it.
The FBI launched an investigation to determine if it was an act of intimidation against Wallace, who is NASCAR’s only black driver; they concluded that the noose was a garage door pull rope and video showed that it had been in place since October 2019. The noose incident came weeks after Wallace, 26, led the charge to have NASCAR ban the Confederate flag at its events.
Wallace has yet to respond.
