Fantasia has been all over the media in the past month promoting her latest project — a new version of the movie “The Color Purple.” Fantasia plays the role of ‘Celie’, whom she portrayed in the Broadway adaptation of the film in 2006 – 2007. Fantasia has told Entertainment Tonight playing the role of ‘Celie” took a toll on her mental health. She admitted during that time, her life and Celie’s life were very similar. She says it was difficult for her to separate the two.
The musical version of “The Color Purple” hits theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
