Nicki Minaj’s Husband Ordered To Settle Lawsuit With Alleged Rape Victim
Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, and his sexual assault accuser, Jennifer Hough, are being ordered by a judge to settle their lawsuit. Hough sued Petty last year for witness intimidation, harassment and inflicting emotional distress. The case is being overseen by Judge James R. Cho who has requested that the two parties complete mediation, according to court documents obtained by AllHipHop.
“Parties to select a mediator by 12/20/2022 and complete mediation by 3/6/2023,” the documents read. “[They] may participate in the mediation remotely. [Both sides] shall file a joint status report two weeks after completing the mediation, but no later than 3/20/2023, whichever date is earlier.”
It added that both sides will engage in “limited written discovery that would facilitate settlement discussions.” If Hough and Petty cannot reach a settlement, the case will proceed to trial.
Hough also sued Minaj claiming the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper also took part in the harassment in trying to have her recant her sexual assault allegations. Ultimately, Hough dropped her claims against Minaj but her allegations against Petty still stand.
Petty was also in some legal trouble this year after failing to register as a sex offender when he moved from New York to California. He was ordered to pay a $55,000 fine as part of his sentence which includes three years of probation and one year of house detention, CBS News reports.
Petty is also pursuing legal action against the State of New York over his sex offender status and wants his name removed from the list. He claims that he was never able to change his status. According to court documents obtained by HotNewHipHop, the court feels as though Petty’s claim is a little too late.
“Plaintiff’s claims are meritless,” court docs show. “And the SORA hearing transcript demonstrates that Plaintiff is fourteen years late in pursuing this lawsuit. The statute of limitations has run. Plaintiff’s claims should be dismissed.”
