The FDA is reportedly set to authorize the vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 15. Currently, the vaccine is only authorized for people 16 and older.
This new age group would mean all high school-aged kids and a portion of middle schoolers would be able to be vaccinated.
Pfizer says the vaccine was 100% effective for children in that age range in clinical tests. No new or previously unreported side effects were discovered. If approved, young people could start getting vaccinated by the end of this month.
Younger children tend to not be as susceptible to COVID and don't seem to spread it often.
