Atlanta Exotic Dancers Start PSA Campaign “Get Your Booty To The Polls” (VIDEO)
It may sound crazy, but use Atlanta exotic dancers to get people to go the polls — voting polls, that is. It’s the brainchild of Atlanta TV director Angela Barnes. In the wake of George Floyd’s death and the pandemic, she wanted to do something in her area that did not require a big budget, but would make impact.
She says she wanted it be something people would be excited about and would want to share. She casually said, ‘maybe like having Magic City dancers tell people to go to the polls.’ And just like that – the idea was born. Soon after, Barnes launched the official campaign “Get Your Booty To The Polls.”
The concept was simple. Utilize the talent and skills of some of Atlanta’s baddest exotic dancers to encourage people to vote. The end result: a PSA video that’s gone viral (200,000+ views) and a hashtag #GetYourBootyToThePolls that includes voter registration information. Even more importantly, dancers say people are getting the message: Exercise your right to vote.
