Dolphins Mourn the Loss of Legend Nick Buoniconti
Former Miami Dolphins linebacker Nick Buoniconti has died in Bridgehampton, New York. He was 78.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer played with the Dolphins in the early ’70s under legendary coach Don Shula, leading the team to two straight Super Bowl victories. “Nick was special to me in every way,” Shula says. “He was someone I greatly admired. I am thankful to have had Nick in my life. I will miss him.”
Buoniconti played his first six seasons with the Patriots before being traded to Miami, where he played until his 1976 retirement. He went on to work as the co-host of “Inside the NFL,” and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001. A cause of death has not been revealed.
