We are just a few weeks away from the NFL Draft when all eyes will be on the Carolina Panthers. The team traded for the top pick in the 2023 Draft. All signs are pointing to the Panthers using that pick to draft a quarterback. The top-rated QBs in this draft class include Bryce Young (Alabama), CJ Stroud (Ohio State), and Anthony Richardson (Florida). But who will the Panthers draft? Most analysts believe it will come down to Young or Stroud. Young has shown flashes of being a more dynamic playmaker but there is hesitation around his size- Young is 5 foot 10 inches tall. His height could be a factor when it comes to throwing over defenders. My belief is that Stroud would be the best bet, though I don’t think any of these three are slam-dunk picks.

Making The Decision

All three quarterbacks are scheduled to visit Charlotte ahead of the draft according to WSOC-TV’s DaShawn Brown. Richardson and Young this week and Stroud next week. I would have imagined that when the trade was made the team knew exactly who they were trading for. But it seems they do not have their mind made up, or at least want to do their due diligence on making sure they have the right guy.

The Panthers organization has been a revolving door for quarterbacks the last few years since David Tepper purchased the team. We’ve seen Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, Cam Netwon, PJ Walker, and Baker Mayfield all take snaps at the position. Ole Miss quarterback Matt Coral was drafted by the team in 2022 but suffered a season-ending injury before the season began. So will the Panthers finally make the right decision on who to draft at quarterback in the 2023 draft? I sure hope so. It’s been difficult and frustrating to be a Panthers fan for the past 5 or so years. And unfortunately, I don’t have much faith that the organization gets it right this time. One thing that is for sure, this needs to be a coach and general manager decision with absolutely zero input from Tepper.

The NFL Draft will take place in Kansas City, MO April 17-19th. Make sure you are tuned in to see who the Panthers draft at quarterback with the 1st overall pick.

The Carolina Panthers Are The Most Stressful Team To Support

First I have to say I disagree with this statement. I want to clarify that I have been a Panthers fan my entire life. I’m in the generation where I haven’t known Charlotte without the Panthers. That being said, I have emotionally detached from the team for the past several years. I say that to mean that while I still watch the games, I don’t get emotionally invested. I expect them to lose at this point, so I don’t get nervous during the games or upset with a loss. Which is a far cry from normal for me. Anyone who knows me will tell you being with me during a college game (or Panthers a few years ago) is next-level stressful. But a recent study by ClutchBet has found that the Carolina Panthers are the most stressful team to support this time of year.

The Study

For any NFL teams this time of year is stressful if you’re looking to clinch that playoff spot, division title, or the elusive first-round bye. So this was taken into account by ClutchBook. They analyzed numbers from 2017-2021 to determine the most stressful teams to support. This is because, in that time span, the Panthers have only won 24% of their November and December games. That is essentially one game per month. Though its too soon to truly tell the tides may be turning. The Panthers are coming off a win on Sunday and are on a two-game win streak. They’ve even won 3 out of their 5 November and December games. If you aren’t good at math that’s a 60% win rate. I’d take that any day over the trends of the past few seasons.

In fact, the Panthers still have an outside shot at a division win and playoff spot. Regardless of if we reach that, it’s obvious the turnaround under intern coach Steve Wilkes.
