Sha’Carri Richardson Remains Top Runner for the U.S Olympic Team

Back in 2021, Richardson faced heavy criticism as she tested positive for using marijuana during the 2021 Olympic Trials.  According to the Olympic doping laws, marijuana is a violation of the league's policy, and she was stripped of her title.  Shortly after Richardson said she would be ready physically and emotionally. https://twitter.com/NBCOlympics/status/1804710717989232707?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1804710717989232707%7Ctwgr%5E43a0b075c0d41cb4561d2981b9bda65c812a4091%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.twitter.com%2F%3Furl%3Dhttps%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FNBCOlympics%2Fstatus%2F1804710717989232707 This time around, fans from all over the world are looking forward to her performance with this year’s US Olympic team.  Richardson calls it her “I’m not back, I’m better tour” as she does her signature chest pound two steps before she reaches the finish line. Last week she put on a performance to show the world why she is the fastest woman alive.  Clocking in at 10.71 seconds in the 100 meters on Saturday’s trials, officially sending her to France where the women kicks off in August. Richardson said, “I feel honored, every chapter I’ve been through in my life prepared me for this moment”.  With her grandfather in attendance, Richardson was very emotional after the win. Richardson will be joined by teammates Melissa Jefferson who ran 10.80 finishing in second and Twanisha “Tee Tee” Terry who ran a 10.89 to finish third in the Olympic trials. Paris will be a chance for redemption for Richardson, who missed out on the 2020 Olympics. She won the trials that year but was not allowed to compete in Tokyo after she tested positive for THC. She said on NBC’s “TODAY” show she ingested it after the death of her mother. We are less than 30 days away from the Paris 2024 Olympics.  There are a lot of expectations for the competitors from the mats to the field.  We will see what happens.  Can Ricardson hold on to the title, or will someone dethrone her?
