If you're sleeping on college baseball you're missing out. Sure I'm biased in that I LOVE college sports. Seriously I'll watch anything and everything my team participates in. But when it comes to baseball it really is fun. One of the main differences in college and Major League Baseball is the use of aluminum bats. This can tend to lead to more hits, and more runs scored. AKA a more "exciting" game. It's not unusual to see games where 20+ runs are collectively scored in a game. Combine that with the fans and rivalries of college athletics and you've got a fantastic though still underrated product. And Charlotteans are in luck as this year there are 2 must-see college baseball matchups coming to Truist Field this spring.
The Carolinas historically are home to some great college baseball from many of the major universities. For the last few years, the Charlotte Knights and Truist Field have showcased those teams in some exciting matchups. My beloved NC State Wolfpack has played in a handful of those and they have been a blast to attend. Unfortunately, my Pack isn't playing here this year but there are two exciting matchups for you to catch! Both are on Tuesday nights as they are one-off matchups and college teams typically play weekend series matchups.
Tuesday, 4/9: South Carolina vs. North Carolina
Tuesday, 5/7: Clemson vs. Charlotte
First, in April we get the battle of the Carolinas and ACC vs SEC. Then about a month later you can catch Clemson take on the hometown Charlotte. Both are sure to be entertaining nights of college baseball at Truist Field. You can get more info and purchase tickets via the Charlotte Knights. Additionally, the ACC Baseball Championship will take place at Truist Field May 21-26, 2024.

Do You Know Every North Carolina Minor League Baseball Team?
Baseball is widely regarded as America's pastime. Without a major league team closer than Atlanta or DC minor league baseball takes the stage in North Carolina. So it's a good thing that we have plenty of North Carolina minor league baseball teams to be a fan of! It can seem like there are so many teams that it's hard to make sense of what they all mean. It seems like every town has a baseball team. Are they all the same level?
The short answer is no. Minor league baseball is made up of several different levels. These are used for player development and getting players ready to hopefully one day compete in the "big leagues". Each major league team has 4 minor league teams affiliated with them for a total of 120 teams in the country. Additionally, there are other independent baseball leagues that players can play in and fans can take in games.
Minor league baseball can be a fun and relatively inexpensive outing for families and friend groups alike. Most tickets are very affordable with fun promotions as well as food and drink specials. North Carolina is home to 10 official minor league teams in the triple A, high A, and single A levels. We also have 5 independent baseball teams. Keep reading to learn a little about each of the teams, where they are located, their major league affiliate, and their level!
