North Carolina Cities Make List of Fastest Growing Cities in The U.S.
Census.gov put out a list of the top 20 fastest growing cities in North America. The top 20 is comprised of the population in the metro area, the population of the actual city, and that city’s growth rate. The fastest growing city in the country according to Census is Austin, TX. The population in the city was recorded at 961,885 and the population in the metro area was recorded at 2,173,804 which was a 25.84% growth rate.
There are two cities from North Carolina that made the top 20 list of the fastest growing cities in the United States. I stated earlier that Austin, TX is the fastest growing city in the country and the number two fastest growing city in the United States is Raleigh, NC. Here are the current numbers that made Raleigh the 2nd fastest growing city in the country.

The Raleigh-Durham area is home to nearly 1.5 million people and numerous higher education institutions, including:

- William Peace University
- Durham Technical Community College
- High-end research facilities like Research Triangle Park.
There was a second North Carolina city on the top 20 list and that city was Charlotte, NC which came in at number 11 just barely missing the top 10. Here are the numbers that made Charlotte number 11.
