Kanye Condemned Over Using R-Word To Describe President Biden
Kanye has been condemned for using the r-word to describe President Joe Biden. In Kanye’s interview with Piers Morgan, Ye called the President “f—ing r——-” and claims he has a pass to use the offensive language since he has been diagnosed with “mental health issues.”
He told Piers, “The President of the United States does not have meetings with Elon Musk. That is f—ing … That’s f—ing r——-. I know I’m not supposed to say that Biden, but that’s f—ing r——-, Biden.”
Now both the National Down Syndrom Congress (NDSC) and the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) have spoken out about Kanye’s insensitive comments.
The executive director of the National Down Syndrome Congress, Jordan Kough, told TMZ, “The r-word is hateful to all people with disabilities, and it’s very disappointing to see Kanye embrace it.” Kough believes Ye knows that the use of the word is very offensive.
As we previously reported, Ye has lost a lot of support, seemingly due to his recent comments. The rapper has had a relationship with Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia since 2014, but Balenciaga severed all ties with him. In a statement made to Women’s Wear Daily, Balenciaga’s parent company Kering, said, “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist.” No other further details were added to the statement.
Additionally, the Anti-Defamation League is also trying to convince Adidas to drop Kanye as a collaborator due to his racist comments over the past couple of weeks.
“In light of Kanye West’s increasingly strident antisemitic remarks over the past few weeks, we were disturbed to learn that Adidas plans to continue to release new products from his Yeezy brand without any seeming acknowledgment of the controversy surrounding his most recent remarks,” the ADL letter reads per CNN. “We urge Adidas to reconsider supporting the Ye product line and to issue a statement making clear that the Adidas company and community has no tolerance whatsoever for antisemitism.”
Earlier this month, Adidas issued a statement about the current status of their relationship with Ye.
“After repeated efforts to privately resolve the situation, we have taken the decision to place the partnership under review. We will continue to co-manage the current product during this period,” the company said in a statement per CNBC.
Kanye has yet to publicly respond to Balenciaga’s statement or the Anti-Defamation League. He also has not publicly apologized for using the r-word.
