Drake Fires Back At YouTuber For Fake DMs

Drake is not one to let haters have their way without being a little petty. The “Certified Lover Boy” clapped back at Anthony Fantano, a music critic on YouTube, who decided to expose fake DMs from the rapper.

On Thursday night (Sept. 15), Drake leaked his own direct messages to Fantano on his Instagram Story, which read, per Variety: “Your existence is a light 1. And the 1 is cause you are alive,” a reference to Fantano’s tradition of reviewing albums on a scale from one to 10.

Drake continued: “And cause you somehow wifed a Black girl. I’m feeling a light to decent 1 on your existence.”

The messages Drizzy sent to Fantano on Instagram seem to be the first communications between thee two on the platform. They appear to have no prior chat history.

However, Fantano could have prompted the Honestly, Nevermind rapper to expose the messages after he posted a video titled “Drake Slid Into My DMs,” on YouTube. In the video, the music critic admits that he elaborately fabricated DMs from the rapper, making it seem that Drake was asking him for a recipe for vegan cookies.

On Instagram Live after Drake posted the screenshot, Fantano said per the outlet: “Essentially what happened is that for reasons unknown to me, Drake was in his feelings, as he does tend to be.”

Fantano said he got a DM request from Drake, which he described as “a bit of a diss… a salty little DM. It was quite sad and unfortunate.”

“Why is Drake messaging me? I’m not 18 years of age,” the music critic said referring to Drake’s friendship to Stranger Things lead Millie Bobby Brown. “That’s kinda weird… This man is familiar enough with me to know my rating system, which is kind of odd. Seems a little obsessed.”

Fantano continued: “This is why he has ghostwriters. Because this is the quality of insult when you get when that man is working solo dolo. If I wanted a good insult in my inbox, he would have had to have paid somebody else to come in and do it.”

The YouTuber then added that he is not going to respond to the “salty” DM by Drake: “I’m gonna leave Drake on read just like all the other thirsty bitches in my DMs. Another angry bitch in my DMs. I don’t need another one… I left Drake on read just like so many women from the past. I’m just one more in a long line [who] left that man on read.”

Before ending his rant on Instagram Live, the music critic came for the rapper one last time: “C’mon dude, you leaked your own DMs onto the internet. That’s sad. That’s pathetic. I don’t even have a million followers. How do you let me get under your skin like that?”

He added: “No hard feelings against Drake. I think Drake for the most part is an artist who has made some great tracks. He’s had some great records drop… He’s got a lot of fantastic hits… He’s got a lot of tracks and records that I don’t care for and that I don’t like. It’s a range.”
