Notorious B.I.G.’s Childhood Home Now Costs $4,000 A Month
Fans of the iconic Brooklyn MC Notorious B.I.G. can now have the opportunity to rent the apartment where the “Juicy” rapper grew up which he once referred to as his “one-room-shack” for $4,000/month.
According to Curbed New York, Biggie’s former “one-room-shack” in Clinton Hill is now a 972-square-foot condo that has three bedrooms, one bathroom, office space, hardwood floors, and high ceilings, and is right on the street that was recently named after B.I.G.
The four-story prewar building where the new condo is located has a common roof deck, a garden, bike storage, laundry room, and a barbecue area, but unfortunately, no pets are allowed in the unit.
“During the time that Biggie created masterpieces, this neighborhood was redlined; people didn’t want to live here, people moved out of the neighborhood, they had left us to die,” City Council member Laurie Cumbo said at last week’s street co-naming event.
“But there were people that struggled, people that fought—now everybody in the world wants to come to Brooklyn,” she added. “That’s why this sign is important today—So that the history of why this place is what it is, so that the struggle of Brooklyn, continues to be told again and again and again.”
One block away from the Clinton-Washington Avenue C train stop, the building is located at 226 Saint James Place (or Christopher Wallace Way).
