Gospel Artist Rudy Currence Carries The Carolinas With Him Everywhere He Goes
I first met Rudy Currence when he was a young man just trying to break into the business. He came to the radio station with his mom, Patricia (his manager), and a guitar. I can recall how even then he sang with such passion and heart. I knew he’d be special.
And obviously, so did his mom who remains his manager today. Over the years, she’s been by his side to see him grow into the star he’s become. He is a singer, and songwriter and has written for stars including Quincy Jones, Mya, Ray J, and David Banner and even written for the hit film “The Bourne Identity.” His gift has landed him on projects alongside artists Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, Ledisi, Chico DeBarge, Raheem DeVaughn, Donald Lawrence, and Byron Cage.
And all his work has brought the accolades, too. He’s a Grammy and Dove Award winning producer, Grammy nominated writer, Two-time #1 Billboard recording artist, and 2024 Stellar Award Nominee.
When we chatted, he revealed how he came on the scene as the son of a preacher in Rock Hill, SC to now being a highly respected musical talent in the Gospel world.
