Grammy Award Winning 90’s R&B Singer-Songwriter, D’Angelo, is Recording New Album
It’s been a decade since D’Angelo has released a studio album. Many of his day-one fans are waiting patiently for the release of new music. The singer who has lived very recluse and private for his entire career has a history of releasing a body of work and then disappearing from the spotlight.
He released his platinum-selling debut album “Brown Sugar” in 1995, credited for ushering in the era of Neo-Soul. In the year 2000, his sophomore studio album “Voodoo” took the entertainment world by storm becoming one of the most critically acclaimed albums of that time. In 2014 his third studio album “Black Messiah” would debut in the top five of the Billboard album charts and would go on to win a Grammy for Best R&B album.
New Music On the Way for D’Angelo?
As a performer, he is highly regarded as one of the most soulful singers to grace the stage in the world of rhythm and blues. After ten years of silence he is finally ready to be back on stage and yet again deliver another album that will surely add to his highly revered catalog.
His longtime music partner, Raphael Saddiq (a legendary artist/producer in his own right) revealed that D’Angelo is currently in the process of recording his new album. On the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast Ralphael gave updates about the album.
“D’s in a good space right now. I talked to him a couple of times. He’s excited, I called him. We’re screaming on the phone, like, ‘Oh, you gotta hear this.’ He like, ‘You gotta play bass. I got this track. I’m telling you, you got to get on it. He seems super excited. He’s in control of his own destiny at this point,” said Saddiq.
No release date has been confirmed at this present time, but we are waiting for this one to drop. I’m sure all eyes will be locked in on this and anticipating the album dropping. Are you tuning in?
