Beyoncé Earns Ninth Solo No. 1 With ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’
Beyoncé earned her ninth solo No. 1 with “Texas Hold ‘Em,” one of the two songs that she has released from her upcoming album. The song debuted at No. 4 on the chart, and in the second week, it climbed to No. 1. “16 Carriages,” the second song Bey released ahead of the second act of Renaissance debuted at No. 9. “Texas Hold ‘Em” also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 according to Billboard.
This follows Beyoncé’s history-making No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs with “Texas Hold ‘Em” making her the first Black woman to debut at the top spot on the country chart.
Beyoncé Announces Country Album During Super Bowl
During the Super Bowl, Beyoncé announced Act II of Renaissance which will be a country album. In the Verizon ad, she tries to break the internet and ends with (actually breaking the internet): “OK, they ready — drop the new music. I told y’all the ‘Renaissance’ is not over,” she concluded in her Verizon ad.
Prior to the announcement, fans caught a whiff of a country era brewing with Beyoncé’s country-inspired outfit at the Grammys.
Besides the two singles and the release date of March 29, nothing else has been confirmed by the singer. However, there has been a lot of speculation including a feature from Taylor Swift.
Killah B, who wrote and produced on one of the singer’s newest singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” spoke to TMZ of the possibility of a Swift collaboration for Renaissance: Act II.
“You gonna have to wait and see,” he said, adding, “Let’s just say she is on the approach of shocking the world. I’ll let your imagination decide what that means.”
However, a source told Entertainment Weekly that Swift will not be on the new Beyoncé record. We’ll just have to wait to see on release day.
