South Carolina Theme Park Has New Chaperone Policy
If you’re headed to the popular amusement park Carowinds in South Carolina, there are some new rules to follow. Starting, Saturday, April 22 a chaperone policy will go into effect.
Under the policy, those ages 15 and younger will have to have a chaperone after 4pm. According to Carowinds, that chaperone will need to be at least 21 years old. The new rule is the parks effort to make sure guests are safe. And it comes after an increased number of incidents of ‘unruly and inappropriate behavior’ across the industry.
According to a statement from Carowinds, here’s a breakdown of the new chaperone rule:
- All guests ages 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone. The chaperone must be at least 21 years old in order to be admitted to, or remain in, the park after 4:00 p.m. local time to close.
- The chaperone must present a valid government-issued photo identification with date of birth at ticket entry.
- One (1) chaperone may accompany no more than ten (10) guests ages 15 or younger per day,” according to a statement from the park.
The press release also states that school trips and other youth-oriented activities are still required to abide by the policy. The policy also applies to prescheduled company events and school groups.
