I’m easily influenced and when the opportunity to get a stand-up desk at work came up, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I had seen a TikTok video of a girl who had a walking pad treadmill at her desk and was walking numerous miles a day. Now granted this girl worked from home and mainly did this for an hour or so on an hour or so off depending on meetings, etc. I work in an office so would this work? I honestly didn’t know. But I took a leap and ordered one from Amazon about three weeks ago. I’ve been using it daily for 2 weeks, and honestly, I love it.

I am a big fan of the viral TikTok 12-3-30 workout which I often do a the gym. So if I do that at a 3-speed I figured 2 was a good place to start. But I was bored with that and quickly increased to 3, then 3.5. I consistently walk at the 3.5 now but if I’m on a call I don’t have to speak on I’ll up it to 4.5 or 5.

It is a lot easier to multi-task than I thought as well, and I find myself walking a significantly longer amount of time than I first intended to as well. In fact, I’m walking more often than not during the day. This overall makes me feel happier and less stressed. It also saves me time and the guilt of not going to the gym after work if I don’t want to. And if I want to go? It’s an added bonus to an already productive day. I have an Apple Watch and my rings are now closed every day usually by lunchtime or shortly after. Plus it’s a great conversation starter! I may have been the first in our office to purchase one but I don’t think I’ll be the last!

So how far am I walking? Here’s what I’ve done since purchasing the walking pad treadmill:

  • Day 1: 26,899 steps (12.70 miles)
  • Day 2: 27,754 steps (13.43 miles)
  • Day 3: 17,201 steps (8.30 miles)
  • Day 4: 28,881 steps (13.87 miles)
  • Day 5: 12,847 steps (6.16 miles)
  • Day 6: 26,413 steps (12.75 miles)
  • Day 7: 24,011 steps (11.42 miles)
  • Day 8: 31,310 steps (15.19 miles)
  • Day 9: 24,505 steps (11.73 miles)
  • Day 10: 23,369 steps (11.22 miles)
  • Day 11: 25,747 steps (12.41 miles)
  • Day 12: 21,373 steps (10.28 miles)

So you can see it varies by how the rest of my day is going, but it is not difficult to absolutely crush your step goal with one of these. The one I have is from Amazon at at the time I purchased it cost about $220. I’ve linked it below. If you’re considering purchasing a walking pad treadmill I can’t recommend it highly enough.
