North Carolina Home to One of the Most Beautiful Small Towns in America
Nothing like the beauty and charm of a small town. Although some of us love our big cities and fast-paced life, small towns bring a certain sense of beauty and peace to an area. I am particularly a city girl myself, but small towns have a unique charm that I enjoy being able to relax in for a vacation of some sort. As a newbie to North Carolina, I am not aware of all the small-town beauties that the state has to offer.
Small Town Feels
Travel + Leisure knows how much we love our small towns and named some of the most beautiful small towns in America and throughout the world. America certainly has some unique, charming small towns tucked in the area. But what makes an area a “small town?” For this list, each destination has a population of fewer than 20,000 people. Now, that’s small! From coastal destinations to mountain destinations, North Carolina certainly has quite a few small towns. One North Carolina small town made Travel + Leisure’s list of the most beautiful small towns in America. Can you guess which small town made the top 20 list? Edenton, North Carolina has been named one of the most beautiful small towns in the country. Edenton is a small town in Chowan County. It is in the Northeastern part of the Tar Heel state. In 2020, the town had a population of just shy of 5,000 people. With water views and nature spread throughout the town, its no wonder where all of its beauty and charm comes from. One of the most beautiful destinations include the 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse.
Personally, I have never heard of or been to Edenton. But after looking up a few photos, I could see myself going here for a relaxing type of getaway. Have you ever been to Edenton? What do you think?
