Check Out These Martin Luther King Day Events In The Charlotte Area
Monday is a federal holiday commemorating the works of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther, Jr. MLK Day is recognized this year on January 16 — the third Monday of the month.
It’s a day off for most workers, particularly federal employees whose offices are closed to observe the day. So that means no banks or federal offices will be open on MLK Day. Many who celebrate the holiday can choose to do so in a variety of ways. And there are a number of ways you can meaningfully celebrate that day. HelloGiggles.com came up with these:
- Educate yourself, because history classes rarely gave us the whole truth. …
- Talk to your older family members.
- Talk to the problematic folks.
- Do some good.
- Create.
- Support organizations that fight for racial justice.
- Support a Black-owned business.
