Takeoff Murder Suspect Bond Set At $2 Million
A murder suspect in Migos rapper Takeoff’s fatal shooting has been arrested and charged with murder. He was ordered held on a $2 million bond during his first court appearance Friday night (Dec. 2). Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, was arrested Thursday evening in Houston and “charged with the murder of Takeoff,” Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said during a press briefing, per ABC.
Takeoff, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed in Houston on Nov. 1. He was 28.
ABC reports that during Clark’s late Friday night court appearance, “prosecutors argued that Clark posed a high flight risk because he had purchased tickets to Mexico two days before his arrest and applied for an expedited passport.” The judge determined that to be true and if he was able to post bond he would be held under a 24-hour house arrest, the judge said. The defense argued that Clark, who is currently enrolled in college, posed a low risk to the community and said this was his first criminal arrest.
A 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman also suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting, police said. The 23-year-old man was later identified as Quavo’s assistant Joshua ‘Wash’ Washington, per TMZ. Quavo was also in attendance at the private event but was left unharmed.
At the time of Takeoff’s death, Houston police said at the time that an argument between attendees “led to multiple unknown males firing pistols at each other.”
“I can tell you Takeoff was not involved in playing the dice game, he was not involved in the argument that happened outside, he was not armed,” Burrow said. “He was an innocent bystander.”
Clark’s arrest follows rapper Lil Cam 5th (born Joshua Cameron) who was reportedly arrested for a felony charge of unlawfuly carrying of a weapon the night of Takeoff's murder. There is heavy speculation that this arrest is connected to Takeoff’s investigation. However, the connection has not been officially drawn.
