North Carolina Woman Wins Lottery And Gives Birth Same Day
A North Carolina woman can say she hit the jackpot twice in one day. Brenda Hernandez of Concord won a $100,000 Powerball lottery prize. Hours before she gave birth to her daughter.
N.C. Education officials say Hernandez told them she bought her winning Powerball ticket from the QuikTrip store on Warren C. Coleman Blvd in Concord on November 9th. That was the day of the drawing. It was also the same day Hernandez went into labor.
Which came first? Hernandez gave birth to a health baby girl, then a few hours later she learned she won a $100,000 prize in the drawing.
Hernandez says, “I feel like she brought me my luck. I’m so thankful.”
Hernandez had two other children and credits them for her lottery win. She says she used their birthdays to pick her numbers. She said it was a lot of luck for a single day.
“When I found out I cried,” she said. “I’m just so excited and happy.”
What will she do with her winnings? Hernandez said she’ll be able to pay off her home.
