Kanye To Acquire Parler, Trump Worries He’s ‘Crazy’
Forget Instagram and Twitter restrictions.. at least, for now. Ye has his eyes set on acquiring the conservative social media platform, Parler. “In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” West said in a release by Parler.
Parler’s parent company announced the deal on Monday morning (Oct. 17), saying West had made “a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again,” CNN Business reports.
This announcement comes after Instagram and Twitter put a restrictive hold on West’s accounts after he shared a screenshot of an antisemitic text message he wrote to Diddy and posted another on Twitter.
The exact terms of the Parler deal weren’t disclosed, the outlet reports. West’s agreement with Parler is not definite at the moment but it is expected to close in the fourth quarter. Parlement Technologies would be involved still by providing technical services and cloud support.
In other Kanye news, his recent behavior has led former President Donald Trump to reportedly express concern for the rapper. Trump, who used to brag that West was “a friend of mine for a long time,” reportedly commented on the rapper’s behavior. Per Rolling Stone, Trump said that West is acting too “crazy” and that he needs some professional “help,” according to two sources with knowledge of the matter. Trump reportedly is also trying to keep his “mouth shut” about all things Kanye for now.
Back in Trump’s first run for the President of the United States in 2016, Kanye was seen actively on the campaign trail. The rapper wore a MAGA hat on SNL and in turn, Trump set up public meetings at the White House and his Trump Tower with Ye. Trump also aided in the release of Ye’s friend A$AP Rocky when the rapper was charged with assault in Sweden back in 2019.
