Swizz Beatz Sends a Message To ‘Culture Vultures’: ‘This Is Designed For Us’
Swizz Beatz recently took to Instagram to send a message to “culture vultures,” in light of the Instagram Live battles that he and Timbaland have been putting together with producers and songwriters of the hip-hop and R&B industry.
“ATTENTION ALL CULTURE VULTURES,” the producer wrote in the caption of his post while tagging Timbaland. “By the Artist for the Artist with the People !”
“Blessings, Blessings. Man, what a couple of amazing days back to back with these battles. Shout out to my partner Timbaland. We came up with the concept versus like three and half years ago and now it’s finally seeing the day of light. We came up with this concept for the people behind the scenes to get their notoriety and to get their flowers while they’re living,” Swizz Beatz said before referencing artists, songwriters, and producers like Ne-yo, Johnta Austin, Sean Garrett, and The Dream for receiving “their flowers” while being alive due to he and Timbaland’s battle series.
“Look at Sean Garrett, The Dream. They got their flowers. This is not a play around thing. The culture vultures, I see y’all lurking. This is not like a Tok Tok where you can just do a quick thing. This is formal. We put curation into this. We had three Madison Square Gardens filled up tonight. Please, be honorable and respectful.”
“Give us five minutes to do what we’re doing before everybody and the cooperation wants to jump in and goofy it out. If you want to do something creative, come holla at me. Come holla at Timbaland. This is designed for us,” Swizz continued.
“Curation is key. And keeping it in the culture is key. I don’t have any sponsors running across the screen. Everyone gets to be their best self and we’re keeping it organic. Later on, y’all can see what this is about but I see a lot of vultures trying to jump the line and just doing anything.”
Swizz went on to say that he and Timbaland have a lot of forthcoming battles line up, “Big ones. Bigger ones!” “Let’s just stay patient,” Swizz said before revealing that the Instagram Live battles that he’s curated amid the COVID-19 pandemic won’t just consist of hip-hop and R&B songwriters. He said that they will also consist of “different eras” and “different genres.” “Let’s keep it going,” Swizz Beatz said. “Love y’all.”
As we previously reported, over the weekend, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland hosted an Instagram Live battle between The Dream and Sean Garrett as songwriters, which garnered over 36,000 viewers over the course of more than three hours.
