Notorious B.I.G. And Whitney Houston Are On The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Ballot
Today (October 15) the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its ballot for the 2020 class, and Notorious B.I.G. and Whitney are both on the ballot, along with Rufus featuring Chaka Khan.
To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This the first appearance on the ballot for Biggie and Houston; it’s Rufus’s fourth nomination. Rufus has been eligible since 1999, Houston since 2009. This is Biggie’s first year of eligibility.
If inducted, Biggie will join a select group of hip-hop acts who have been inducted, including Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Run-D.M.C., the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Tupac Shakur and N.W.A.
Inductees will be announced in January 2020. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2020 Induction Ceremony will take place at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio on May 2, 2020. Ticket on-sale information has not yet been announced.
