Nas Releases ‘The Lost Tapes 2’
The wait is finally over for Nas fans.
The Queens MC released the long-awaited sequel to his 2002 project, The Lost Tapes on Thursday.
The veteran rapper teased the compilation album, The Lost Tapes 2, back in June, and it has the same concept as the original.
It’s a collection of unreleased tracks from Nas that got cut from various projects. The highly-anticipated album consists of 16 tracks that were originally recorded for Nas’ previous albums Hip Hop Is Dead, Untitled, Life Is Good, and NASIR.
Nas talked about the compilation album during an interview on The Daily Show but he wouldn’t reveal where each track came from.
“You kinda gotta guess like, ‘What year did he make this one?'” he told host Trevor Noah. “Some of the songs are like 10 years old, 12 years old, and some of them are as early as a year-and-a-half ago.”
The Lost Tapes 2 has guest appearances by Swizz Beatz, David Ranier, J. Myers, Al Jarreau, and Keyon Harrold. Frank Ocean was also credited for writing on “Royalty.” The album also has production by Kanye West, Pharrell, No I.D., Pete Rock, and Hit-Boy.
