Rapper Trina Quietly Tied The Knot Last Month
Rapper Trina quietly tied the knot to her partner Benjamin Kearse Jr. last month in Miramar, Florida, according to multiple reports. Trina reportedly broke the news to Jason Lee during his Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, as Kearse was said to be her date for the evening.
Trina Quietly Tied the Knot and Shared Subtle Hints
While the Miami rapper has yet to confirm the news, an interview with Carlos King published earlier this month found her referring to him as her “husband.” In regards to keeping their relationship private, she said “If you see it, oh well. I’m not hiding.” She also referred to their relationship as a “breath of fresh air.”
Kearse Jr. and Trina both appeared on a February 2024 episode of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Miami back when they were dating, with Trina bringing her man to hang out with her cousin Joy. According to Kearse’s brief appearance on the reality show, he goes by Swurv.
Trina shared a short version of their origin story on Love and Hip Hop: Miami. “The night we met was at a party. This amazing, handsome man walks in, and I look at Joy like, ‘Cousin, who’s that!?’ And Joy said, ‘I don’t know!’ I was not leaving that party without his number. Once I got the number, the rest is history.”
Trina was formerly engaged to Raymond “Ray Almighty” Taylor in 2021, who also appeared with her on Love and Hip Hop: Miami. However, the couple never made it to the altar, and they ended up parting ways. Trina spoke briefly about the breakup during an episode of Caresha Please with Yung Miami in 2023, while also opening up about the back-to-back loss she experienced around that time.
“It’s so much that happened in this year and I just had to take a break from everything. I was engaged, in a whole relationship, and when stuff happened, I just kind of lost focus. I didn’t feel like I could give my whole self to somebody,” she shared.
During the interview, Trina expressed her desire to eventually start a family and shared that she has had three miscarriages in the past. However, the artist also expressed that she was reluctant to have kids due to her mother, Vernessa Taylor, passing away from cancer in 2019 at the age of 62.
“When my mom got sick, I just went into this phase of I don’t even want to have a kid, and my mom is not here. How do I raise a kid without my mom?”
