Be A Smiling Scrooge For The Holidays?
The years of running up credit cards for gifts used to be fun, but now it’s played out. The retail holiday is about giving and giving and feeling guilty when you don’t spend your hard-earned dollars. There’s something magical about the cold crisp air while hearing holiday music in the background. This intoxicating feeling can be enjoyed without spending a dime. Join me in absorbing the atmosphere, the people, and the surroundings while you smile without pulling out the credit card. If you see something you like, buy it, but make it a gift for yourself that can bring joy for more than a few days. Or buy that expensive meal you’ve been craving. Before 2023 desire a feeling you wish to feel or something amazing you’d like to experience. I’d love for you to start doing you, instead of spreading yourself too thin.
When you think about how much time you spend mining at work with busy thoughts and deadlines, is it all worth it? What if we gave ourselves time in the day to relax instead of climbing that ladder of overachievers? Yes, please celebrate the overachievers in your life, but we can’t maintain that pace for long periods of time. Here’s a little-known fact I’ll close with. In several studies of populations, scientists found that deaths from heart attacks jump significantly on Mondays, then drop again on Tuesdays. Weekends tend to be calmer days because we might be in relaxation mode. What steps do you have within your self-care routines? Whatever you do, please take care of yourself and don’t stress over the holiday spending season, instead enjoy the holiday atmosphere and smile. See you soon, and happy holidays!
