Sean Paul Claims Beyoncé Confronted Him About Dating Rumors During ‘Baby Boy’ Era
“Baby Boy” has been on Sean Paul’s mind! The sizzling record from Beyoncé’s debut album Dangerously In Love, sparked dating rumors between Bey and Sean Paul who was featured on the dancehall-inspired track.
Beyoncé dating now-husband Jay-Z during the time, but recently Sean addressed the speculation in an interview and shut down rumors that he and Beyoncé were hooking up during the “Baby Boy” era: “Nah! I wish I did!” he said. “She’s beautiful.”
Sean also mentioned that they “only performed the song three times together—ever.”
“She had a few hits with Destiny’s Child, and they would do the Caribbean, but we didn’t really hang out,” the musician explained. “I’d always admired her music and she’s beautiful. So, when I heard Beyoncé was stepping out on her own and wanted me to do a single, I was like ‘Hell f–king yeah.'”
According to the “Temperature” artist, Beyoncé allegedly confronted him about the rumors when they performed the hit at the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards.
“She was pissed and was like ‘I need to speak to you,'” he claimed. “So, we go back and talk and she’s like ‘What’s all these rumors about?’ and I’m like ‘Yo, I’m not saying s—,” and she’s like ‘These rumors f— with my career. I just want you to know that.'”
Sean recalled telling Bey that the rumors were “not coming from me” which he alleges led him to distancing himself from the icon.
“It’s weird,” he noted, “maybe it had something to do with her management at the time.”
