17th Annual Adoption Day Event
The 17th Annual Mecklenburg County adoption day event on Saturday, November. 21, 2020 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse located at 832 East 4th Street, in Charlotte North Carolina. It’s all because of the observance of National Adoption Day, and the court will recognize the 68 children and their newly adoptive families who received decrees between November 2019 and October 2020.
More than half of the children being recognized have been in the Mecklenburg County foster care system, and District Court Judge Aretha Blake will preside over the drive-through parade and pre-recorded program. Mecklenburg County Juvenile Court, Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court’s Office, Trial Court Administrator’s Office, Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services, Mecklenburg Guardian ad Litem Advocacy Foundation, and the Mecklenburg County Guardian Ad Litem Program. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the event is open only to the media and not the general public. All media participants are being asked to wear a mask and abide by social distancing guidelines. The pre-recorded program, including footage of the parade, will be made available on MeckNC.gov.
