South Carolina Employers Have The 3rd Hardest Time Filling Jobs Of Any State In The Country

Visit any restaurant or store these days and you’re almost guaranteed to see a “hiring” sign. Employers just can’t seem to fill jobs which is good for workers but bad for employers. And if you are an employer in South Carolina chances are you are really noticing this struggle. Our friends at WalletHub recently ranked the “States Where Employers Are Struggling The Most In Hiring”. And the Palmetto State ranked 3rd making it one of the most difficult states to fill open positions in nationwide. The data shows that in the last month in South Carolina the rate of open jobs in the state was 7.10% and for the last twelve months it was 7.7%. This placed South Carolina third on the list behind Alaska and West Virginia.

  5. New Mexico
  6. Lousiana
  7. Montana
  8. Mississippi
  9. Colorado
  10. North Carolina

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the easiest states to fill jobs in are New York, New Jersey, and Washington DC in that order. While this is bad news for employers in South Carolina its good news for workers seeking jobs. It’s classic supply in demand and when employers have to compete to land workers, the workers benefit. It should also serve as a reason for employers to take care of the employees they have. However, this can also lead to an increase in prices in an economy that is already overwhelmed by inflation. So you’ll have to decide if you think this is good or bad news.

This data was curated by WalletHub who looked at the rate of job openings in all 50 states and Washington DC over the last month and last twelve months. Can You Guess The Richest Cities In South Carolina For 2023?

What are the richest cities and towns in South Carolina? There is a lot of money in the Palmetto State but there is one region that takes the cake so to say. The financial experts at Forbes recently conducted an analysis to determine the richest places in the state of South Carolina.  To do this they looked at over 400 cities aka census-designated places in SC. Cities were ranked on four metrics including median household income, mean household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid.

So which cities made the cut? The top 5 were all clustered in one area of the state. While I won’t spoil that surprise quite yet I will give you the (probably unneeded) hint that it’s a coastal area. You’ll find detailed info below about each of the top 5 cities and towns that are the richest places in South Carolina in 2023 according to Forbes. You’ll also find info on the other cities that made the top 50 list that are in the vicinity of Charlotte.
