This North Carolina City Is One Of The Most Misspelled In The US
There are some spellings I can just never forget. Mississippi for one. You know the rhythm, M-I-SS-I-SS-I-PP-I. Tennessee is another one I just can’t forget. But there are a lot of places both states and cities that a lot of people, just can’t spell. One of them in right here in NC. Can you guess which North Carolina city is the most misspelled? It’s not that complicated, just makes it on this list due to a simple mistake- leaving out an “e”. Yes, you guessed it- it’s Asheville. Not to be confused with the spelling of Nashville which doesn’t have the “e”. We will blame it on that at least. But yes, this eclectic, charming, gorgeous city in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina is one of the most misspelled cities. What are the others?
- Pittsburgh
- Tucson
- Cincinnati
- Albuquerque
- Culpeper
- Asheville
- Worcester
- Manhatten
- Phoenix
- Niagra Falls
- Fredericksburg
- Philadelphia
- Detroit
- Chattanooga
- Gloucester
Some of these I understand. Tuscon and Albuquerque absolutely. Manhatten and Detroit? Our education system might need a little work. Pittsburgh tops the list thanks to that “h” that I guess is commonly forgotten about. I guess I will give you that. This data comes from search engines and people searching “how to spell ….” But I have to wonder how many people never fully search. I personally just start typing how I think you spell the place in the search bar and let it fill in the rest. Although for me it’s abbreviations of states that I tend to forget and Google often. Arkansas and Arizona (AR and AZ respectively) always have me thinking twice. What’s one word you just cannot spell? Perhaps it’s just because I have spent a lot of time in Asheville but I can’t say it’s ever one that trips me up.
