Prayer in School?
We are weeks away from CMS opening their doors for the 2019-2020 school year. Many other schools have already started, but with the recent shootings, one organization is putting up a sign to encourage drivers to pray.
Richland County residents in S.C. are noticing new signs that read, “School Prayer Zone.” These signs feature similar SCDOT figurines of praying women and/or praying for man on the sign kneeling in prayer. These signs are popping up near school entrances, leaving some to question if they’re crossing the line between church and state.
The organization behind the project is called Christ Teens. They have been working on this project for the past 3 years. They want to encourage all parents, students, staff, admin, and fellow drivers to take a second to pray for our student’s safety as they enter school.
SCDOT says they did not approve the signs, however, they are legal. Each sign is located on private property just outside of school grounds.
