Megan Thee Stallion Issues Statement Ahead Of Tory Lanez Sentencing
Ahead of Tory Lanez’s sentencing for the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case, the “WAP” rapper has issued a statement. Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson), was in court Monday (Aug. 7) for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston bred rapper did not attend the court hearing as she wanted to “preserve her mental well-being,” according to Incredibly, Judge Herriford managed to not finish today. We are coming back tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. A few more things to talk about, then argument, then Herriford will sentence Tory Lanez.
Megan did not speak in person, but she submitted a statement that DA Kathy Ta read aloud.
“He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma,” Megan wrote, per Cuniff. “He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul.
“He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media. He released music videos and songs to damage my character and continue his crusade.”
She continued: “At first, he tried to deny the shooting ever happened. Then, he attempted to place the blame on my former best friend. In his tantrum of lies, he’s blamed the system, blamed the press and, as of late, he’s using his childhood trauma to shield himself and avoid culpability.”
“For once, the defendant must be forced to face the full consequences of his heinous actions and face justice,” she concluded.

Prior to the sentencing hearing, Lanez’s attorneys asked for the rapper to be released on probation and put into a drug placement program. Lanez had an interview with a psychologist in jail last month. According to Law & Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff the rapper says his childhood, which had violence and abuse, was the reason he took to alcohol as a solution. The memo also states that he used both alcohol and marijuana to “cope with stress” and the “unresolved traumas from his childhood.” Lanez’s mother died when he was 11 and he was also shot and stabbed as a teenager.
The prosecution is seeking a 13-year sentence. Lanez’s attorneys are asking for three years.
