Discussing The Importance of Health Equity
In March Antrell Tyson was appointed to serve as regional director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for Region 4. Tyson was recognized as a Health Care Hero. This honor came by way of the Stay Well Community Health Fairs initiative and the We Can Do This COVID-19 Public Education Campaign. In his role as Regional Director, he will be responsible for eight Southeastern states. The states include North and South Carolina, but Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, and six federally recognized Tribes. When it comes down to small communities, word of mouth is how information spreads, especially regarding Covid-19 vaccinations.
That’s why Regional Director Tyson has been at the forefront of educating communities on the updated COVID vaccines. The trust factor ranges in communities of color that’s why he recently attended the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta and Florida Blue Florida Classic in Orlando to discuss the importance of health equity and COVID vaccine access.
