Work At Home Workouts
Since more employees are splitting up office days and work at home days, we might as well get physical. Taking into consideration that vacation calories can sneak up on us, we can still take off a few pounds. To start, if you burn calories slower consider giving up French fries and order a yummy salad instead. Drink water instead of ordering sweet tea or a soda pop and if you need some flavor, ask for water with lemon or lime. Next, workout if only for 20 or 30 minutes a day. Make small changes, start slowly, and build gradually. Allow time to warm up before and time for a cool down afterwards. Whatever you decide to do in a workout, break things up. If the workout says do 10 reps, break it down to 5 reps until you build yourself up to those 10 reps. Be creative, making it exciting.
Don’t like working out? Go for a walk! Start by walking 10 or 15 minutes a day. You can walk to the mailbox, walk do the end of your street and back or even walk in place. If you have a tread mill at home, take the clothes off it and walk on it. LOL! Don’t over do it, listen to your body and be flexible. Do things in your own time and elevate gradually.
Below are a few items I purchased to start my exercise journey at home, and they are working wonderfully for me!
1. Slam Ball – I purchased a 12 lb. ball but get what works best for you. Google or YouTube slam ball workouts and find one that works for you.
2. Battle Room or Heavy Rope – I found the best workout ides on YouTube.
3. Smart Hula Hoop – This one is really fun! I cannot use a traditional hula hoop; I’m just not coordinated enough! LOL! I am a beast on this version of the hula hoop!
As always consult a physician or a fitness professional for best results and to make sure that what you are doing will work for you. Good luck!
