Stephen Curry Completes His Davidson College Degree
If you’re looking for a role model in professional sports, you’ll find one at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Thirteen years after leaving school for the NBA, Stephen Curry is a college graduate. The Golden State Warriors star has officially earned his degree from Davidson College, the school tweeted Sunday morning.
Curry re-enrolled for the spring semester and completed his final semester of classwork with the help of some professors at Stanford and UC Santa Cruz. He’s now a member of Davidson College’s Class of 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
With the completion of his degree, Stephen Curry is also eligible for another honor at his alma mater. His number 30 Wildcats jersey can now be retired. According to ESPN, Davidson College only retires the numbers of players who graduate.
The Charlotte native was not able to come home for Sunday’s (5/15) Commencement ceremony. He has been a little busy with the NBA playoffs. The Golden State Warriors have advanced to the Western Conference Finals. However, Davidson College will present Curry’s diploma to him in the future.
Stephen Curry is one of the highest paid athletes in the world. Forbes reports that he’s making over $92-million per year. Not everyone in Curry’s situation would bother going back to school. It says something about his values. I’m sure Steph’s family, as well as Davidson head coach Bob McKillop, are proud of him for honoring his commitment to graduating.
