CDC Adds 6 Destinations to ‘Very High’ Covid-19 Travel Risk List
You might want to postpone that Caribbean vacation a little longer. The Bahamas and Morocco are now among the highest-risk destinations for travelers, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s constantly revised travel advisories list.
The CDC and State Department have added three Caribbean locales – the Bahamas, St. Maarten, and Haiti – to its list of ‘Level 4’ destinations carrying a ‘very high’ COVID-19 risk. Six destinations moved to the Level 4 list on August 23rd, 2021. These include the following:
- Bahamas
- Haiti
- Kosovo
- Lebanon
- Morocco
- Sint Maarten
The CDC’s evolving list of travel notices ranges from Level 1 (“low”) to Level 4 (“very high”). A ‘Level 4’ risk means the nation is averaging 500 COVID-19 cases per 10,000 people. All six destinations newly added to Level 4 were previously ranked at “Level 3: COVID-19 High.”
Ten other destinations moved to the “Level 3: COVID-19 High” category on Monday, August 23rd, 2021. Albania, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Brunei, and Liechtenstein moved up from level one. Bulgaria and Serbia relocated from level two. Greenland and Guernsey changed from “level unknown.” And Paraguay moved down from level four.
