Kehlani Came Out In TikTok Video: Family And Friends Not Surprised
Kehlani has officially come out and confirmed that she is gay on her TikTok with a video that she had since been deleted.
She began the video by saying: “I’m just gonna f—-ing say it since everybody keeps bringing it up to me!” The 25-year-old singer refers back to an Instagram Live video where fans asked her “Kehlani what’s new?” to which replied in a mocking voice, “I finally know I’m a lesbian. Well, it’s f—-ing true, I’m gay g-gay-gay-gay.”
The Daily Mail reports her confession comes a few weeks after she hinted at her sexuality during an Instagram Live with Jamie-Lee B that went viral.
Born Kehlani Ashley Parrish, said that when she wanted to have a heart-to-heart with her family and friends about coming out as “gay, gay”, they weren’t surprised and said, “we know, duh…stupid, like, duh.” It sounded like she wasn’t pleased with that reaction, expecting a more dramatic response by her loved ones and for them to “fall on the floor and [gasps]: ‘Congratulations, we had no idea! S—-! Damn.’ Everyone’s just like, ‘Duh. You’re the only one who didn’t f—ing know. The f—ing closet was glass. So I guess I just wanted y’all to know that everyone knew, but me.'”
Her TikTok bio reads: “she/they 🏳️🌈.” Per the media outlet, Kehlani had previously stated she is pansexual.
Kehlani welcomed her daughter Adeya in March 2019 with guitarist Javaughn Young-White, and that she wishes to be referred to by she/they pronouns.
In a February cover issue with Playboy, Kehlani delved into embracing both her feminine and masculine sides, with the cover image featuring two different looks: the first, a feminine red-and-black patterned strapless dress with a high slit. As for her masculine look, she wore a red velvet tuxedo and a white shirt that was only partially buttoned and tucked in.
When she posted the cover image on her Instagram, she wrote: “I always wanted to date me.”
