Gaining Weight During The Pandemic
I’m that woman in the grocery store talking out loud to herself as I pass the potato chip aisle, saying don’t buy those tasty, crispy chips! Surveys are showing that at least 71 million Americans have gained weight during the pandemic, resulting in 52% expressing that they feel down about the way they look. How about you? If your Quarantine 15 has turned into 20, maybe 30 pounds you’re not alone! Check out Desi Ventures who is NOT taking you through a new fad diet….because that’s a plan waiting to fail. Desi is here with an honest take on weight gain and weight loss. I’m tuning in as she shares a weekly post that will take you through some healthy meal suggestions, ways to increase water intake, and exploring exercises that work for you!
What’s on your grocery list these days? You don’t have to be an expert to realize that green leafy vegetables are a part of a healthy diet, but you have to stir fry to taste descent. Stock up on foods that are nutrient-dense. Stay away from the Kraft Mac & Cheese isle and go for fresh foods that expire! Some suggestions are baby spinach inside of salads, frozen or fresh cauliflower to replace rice. Frozen berries and cherries to add to oatmeal or grits. My Doc loves his patients to do some intermittent fasting. Not the type of FASTING when you go for days without food. There are several methods of Intermittent Fasting: The 16/8 method involves fasting every day for 14–16 hours and restricting your daily eating window to 8–10 hours. Within the eating window, you can fit in two, three, or more meals. But I haven’t mastered that one yet so I’ll chime in with Desi Ventures and keep up with her journey.
